If I lived in another city, that would be the price of a house! Here, it's half the price of an apartment. I guess that makes me feel better?
Pricey education, eh?

OMG, that's even more debt than when I graduated from grad school. I hope you have a lucrative degree!
It's a J.D... potentially very lucrative. :)
Girl you are brave, I'm still paying off a piddly $5500 student loan. It should pay off at least, sometimes I wish I went into law. Memories of mock trial in high school....
I have never seen so much student loan debt... I can't even deal. I agree with Miss M ^^ you are very brave!! But good for you for trying to pay some off before the real payments begin!
@Ashley - it's actually not that much above average for a student at a private law school. (I guess it's somewhat comforting to know I'm not the only one in this boat? :p)
But thanks... I'm trying to be brave. ;)
I left school with 130,000 in debt. My wife left with 75,000. After committing to paying the debt off once we were making real salaries, we paid it off in 3 years. Its definitely doable. You just have to commit to it. Good luck!
Thanks for the encouragement T! :) And congrats on your accomplishment!! I hope to follow in your footsteps...
Holy Shit! I feel so bad for you! I don't owe nearly as much as you and I resent my education greatly. Check out my blog when you get a chance.
Totally late on leaving a comment, but just want to tell you not to be discouraged! I owed $205k JUST from law school and undergrad, and future hubby owes $150k from med school. We're not going to be able to pay it off in 3 years, though that'd be LOVELY, but we will pay it off substantially earlier than they'd like!
Are all the student loans just from law school or is it undergrad plus law school?
Are you planning on going into private pracitce? That will help pay it down quickly but otherwise I think it would be a struggle.
@Aaren: thanks for the comment and the support! :) Hopefully we could both pay it off in the next couple of years!!
@Jane: It's from undergrad plus law school, though undergrad was only about $20k. I'd like to work for a mid to large firm, but I don't know if that's going to happen. My eventual goal is to be in-house counsel at an entertainment related company.
One positive about the govt jobs is the loan forgiveness program. But that would require sticking around for 10 years...
I know I'm kind of late in commenting but I'm going back to school and wow, you are brave for taking on that much in loans! I'm going to a private grad school and I'm taking out the max - about $47,000. At least you'll be going into a (potentially) lucrative career! My cousin is graduating as well this Spring with her PharmD and about $200k in student loans as well just from Pharmacy (her parents paid for undergrad). Good luck and I'm sure it'll pay off in the end (I keep saying it to myself as well ;) )
